Continuous street and pedestrian scale lighting increases visibility, contributing to increased perceptions of safety and pedestrian travel after dark, as well as reduced opportunity for crime. 

Strategy Requirements

Include pedestrian-scale lighting that:

1. provides evenly distributed illumination throughout all of the following areas within the project boundary:
   1. pedestrian pathways
   2. bicycle paths
   3. outdoor parking areas
   4. transit shuttle shops
2. directs or shields lighting as needed to avoid glare and off-site impacts on abutting properties, using the following light types:
   1. low height street lamps that illuminate sidewalks and pathways in addition to roadways
   2. street lamps that are specifically designed to eliminate shadows and dark corners
   3. up-lighting that is directed at pedestrians

• all required areas
• lighting placement
• types of lighting that will be used

Built Certification

Submit all of the following:

1. Annotated lighting plans detailing the following:
   1. all required pedestrian routes and streetscapes
   2. light placement
2. A minimum of 3 annotated nighttime photographs showing all required pedestrian routes and streetscapes
