Rationale

Enhanced transit stops improve safety and comfort when using public transit, encouraging active transportation. 

Strategy Requirements

Include a minimum of one enhanced transit stop that:

1. is located within 1/2 mile or 800 meter walking route of a minimum of 51% of all buildings within the project
2. incorporates a minimum of 2 of the following:
   1. shading/cover from the elements
   2. seating
   3. lighting
   4. real-time transportation information

Design Certification

Submit design drawings detailing the following:

• the location of existing or planned qualifying transit stop(s)
• the distance between a minimum of 51% of the existing or planned buildings and the qualifying transit stop(s)
• the proposed transit stop enhancements

Note: The distance can be calculated by:

• identifying the farthest main entrance to a building (A) and transit stop (B)
• marking the walking route and distance between A and B to demonstrate a maximum walking distance of 1/2 mile (800 meters)
• marking all buildings that fall within the identified distance

Built Certification

Submit all of the following:

1. An annotated map or plan detailing:
   1. the location of the qualifying transit stop(s)
   2. the distance between a minimum of 51% of the existing or planned buildings and the qualifying transit stop(s)
2. A minimum of 3 annotated photographs detailing a minimum of 2 qualifying transit stop enhancements

Note: The distance can be calculated by:

• identifying the farthest main entrance to a building (A) and transit stop (B)
• marking the walking route and distance between A and B to demonstrate a maximum walking distance of 1/2 mile (800 meters)
• marking all buildings that fall within the identified distance
