Free and low-cost programming in open spaces increases the overall use of parks and plazas and provides accessible opportunities for increased physical activity and social interaction.
Strategy Requirements
Implement qualifying programming that is:
- free or offered at low-cost
- publicized and accessible to regular occupants as well as general public
- offered in a park or plaza within the project boundary
- scheduled at a minimum of once per month
Qualifying types of programming include:
- mental and social health programs
- fitness programs
- nutrition programs
- health care programs
- cultural programs
Design Certification
Submit all of the following:
- An official or draft statement confirming the:
- types of programming that will be offered
- schedule of the qualifying programming that will be offered
- programming will be offered free or low-cost to regular occupants and to the general public
- Annotated map(s) or plan(s) showing the park(s) or plaza(s) where the programming will be offered.
Built Certification
Submit all of the following:
- An official statement confirming the:
- types of programming that are offered
- schedule of the qualifying programming offered in the last 3 months
- programming is offered free or low-cost to regular occupants and to the general public
- Annotated map(s) or plan(s) showing the park(s) or plaza(s) where the programming is offered.
- A minimum of 3 annotated photographs demonstrating the programming.
