Rationale
A stormwater management plan mitigates an area's risk of flooding, which can reduce mold growth, decrease exposure to dangerous pathogens and chemicals from the water supply, and protect against insect-borne disease.
Strategy Requirements
Implement a minimum of one qualifying stormwater infrastructure that manages all of the following, as applicable:
- controlling stormwater runoff
- treating stormwater runoff from the site prior to entering local water sources
- treating stormwater separately from sewer water
- protecting areas where chemicals and hazardous waste are stored during high precipitation events
- preventing oil, gas, and grease from entering sewer outflow and stormwater runoff
Qualifying stormwater infrastructure include but are not limited to:
- retention ponds
- permeable pavement
- green roofs
- blue roofs
- rain gardens
- bioswales
- cisterns
Note: Jurisdictional requirements and procedures are accepted as stormwater management procedures provided they meet the following requirements.
