Rationale

A stormwater management plan mitigates an area's risk of flooding, which can reduce mold growth, decrease exposure to dangerous pathogens and chemicals from the water supply, and protect against insect-borne disease.

Strategy Requirements

Implement a minimum of one qualifying stormwater infrastructure that manages all of the following, as applicable:

• controlling stormwater runoff
• treating stormwater runoff from the site prior to entering local water sources
• treating stormwater separately from sewer water
• protecting areas where chemicals and hazardous waste are stored during high precipitation events
• preventing oil, gas, and grease from entering sewer outflow and stormwater runoff

Qualifying stormwater infrastructure include but are not limited to:

• retention ponds
• permeable pavement
• green roofs
• blue roofs
• rain gardens
• bioswales
• cisterns

Note: Jurisdictional requirements and procedures are accepted as stormwater management procedures provided they meet the following requirements.
