Rationale
Identifying and publicizing community gathering spaces can reduce the negative impacts of an emergency situation and limit casualties.
Strategy Requirements
Include a minimum of one community gathering space(s) that:
- Is publicized to all regular occupants through a minimum of one of the following:
- signage
- digital communication
- notice in tenant manuals/resident leases
- postings on community information board(s)
- Is located within the project boundary or within 1/4 mile or 400 meters walking distance of the project boundary
- Is identified to respond to a minimum of one potential disaster scenario for the regional context/geography
- Can accommodate all regular occupants
Design Certification
Submit all of the following:
- Annotated plan(s) or map(s) identifying:
- If located on-site, a plan showing the location of the community gathering space(s) within the project boundary
- If located off-site, a map showing the distance between the community gathering space(s) and the project boundary
- An official statement detailing how the space(s) will:
- be publicized to regular occupants
- respond to one potential disaster scenario for the site context/geography
- accommodate all regular occupants
Built Certification
Submit all of the following:
