IEQ R5: Safe Combustion Equipment

Requirement

PURPOSE

Reduce risk of carbon monoxide and other combustion byproduct exposure.

CRITERIA

All combustion equipment must be sealed combustion / direct vented with dedicated combustion air provided from outside. 

• Examples of combustion equipment include (but not limited to) fireplaces, furnaces, boilers and water heaters Exceptions: Gas cooking equipment with code mandated exhaust to outside.

VERIFICATION 

• Construction Documents include location and type of gas-fired equipment 
• Site Inspection by ECLC Technical Advisor
