Apartments

Greywater, blackwater or rainwater systems would meet the requirements for this issue. These systems do to need to supply all units, but they should be designed to make maximum practical use of non-utility supplied water sources.

Homes

In individual homes with a garden, the provision of a water butt/rain barrel is sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the criteria. No requirements are set on the type of water butt/rain barrel or storage capacity required. The Assessor should be satisfied that, within reason, the installation is adequate for the size of development and climatic conditions of the region.

Definitions

Blackwater:

Wastewater that has been discharged from kitchen and utility sinks, urinals and toilets within the asset.

Greywater:

Water that has been discharged from all sources other than kitchen and sewage within the asset..

Utility-supplied water:
