INTENT
To ensure there is proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste to prevent contamination of nonhazardous wastes and damage to the environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Clearly label and safely store hazardous waste. Hazardous waste labeling, storage, and disposal must be in compliance with HAZCOM, RCRA, federal, state and local laws. Train employees to know which materials are hazardous and where to put them for proper disposal, reuse or recycling.
POTENTIAL STRATEGIES
Learn HAZCOM, RCRA, federal, state and local hazardous waste regulations. Find appropriate location in facility to store materials. Store and label materials according to applicable regulations. Document compliance with all training regulations dependent on waste types generated and the volumes handled at the facility.
SUBMITTAL DOCUMENTATION
- Narrative describing storage and labeling system of hazardous wastes. Narrative should also describe the training program for hazardous materials labeling, storage, and disposal. Storage, labeling, and training should demonstrate compliance with HAZCOM, RCRA, federal, state and local laws.
- Training materials or company hazardous waste policy (if one has been established). Photographs of storage and labeling system could also be provided (optional).
