Create system to track the purchase of environmentally preferred products and materials that address zero waste.
Examine purchasing activity and determine which vendors provide environmentally preferred products. Determine if reports are created internally on purchasing activity, or if reports can be sent from vendor. Highlight environmentally preferred items in these reports or create a separate report with just these items. Staff can also track purchase of items using a spreadsheet or word document. The tracking system should be highlighted in the purchasing guidelines used by purchasing agents and/or any departments authorized to make purchases.
